NemaStudio Version 1.3

Less then 3 weeks from the first release of NemaStudio, Sailsoft now announces Version 1.3.
This became necessary because of issues with some versions of Windows 7 causing NemaStudio to crash.
The problems were caused by the obfuscator applied onto NemaStudio.
We are very sorry for this, but we had to wait for a solution from the supplier of the obfuscator software.
In this versions the Windows 7 issues are solved, and also some minor errors. Changes from 1.1:
- Windows 7 issues solved
- In most instruments at least one formatter is checked to get unfamiliar users start fast
- NemaStudio is now a single instance application to avoid resource clashes
- Negative velocity made AIS targets crash. Solved.
- Two new buttons aqdded on the toolbar for resp. comm settings and general settings

NemaTalker Version 1.9.17

This version reverts the previous version 1.9.16.
It obviously was a mistake to reverse HDT and HDM sentences.
Apologies for the confusion this may have caused.

First beta of NemaStudio sent out to selected customers

Today I have sent out a very first beta (more like still an alpha...) to a number of selected customers.
I have also created a website for reporting feedback like bugs and other issues you find and of course suggestion for improvement.
If you are also interested in participating, please let me know by email (reply to the reply address of the email you received with the license codes of NemaTalker or GpsSimul) or by using the form you will find here:

Announcing NemaStudio

We are working hard to complete a new NMEA simulator, NemaStudio. This is not a new version of NemaTalker as we had planned before, but a complete new product.
NemaStudio wil incorporate many suggestions we received from our customers, like flexible comport handling and multiple copies of an instrument.
So in NemaStudio you can have a GPS allocated to COM10, a GPS allocated to COM17, a GPS and a sounder allocated to COM2 etc.
All these will run simulaneously. In principle the number of copies of an instrument will be unlimited, providing your PC can handle it. NemaStudio will support AIS.
NemaStudio has been given a professional and flexible user interface (GUI), with docking and floating panels and context menus. I am sure you will like it.
Since we have decided to not release a new version of NemaTalker (originally planned for 3Q2008) but for a complete new product, dedicated to our professional customers we need a bit more time than that. Yet we are sure to be able to deliver NemaStudio in Q12009.
For questions, previews, beta test participation etc. please contact me directly by email: ger.rietman_at_sailsoft.nl.
Further news on NemaStudio, screenshots etc. will not be announced via this feed, but keep an eye on my personal blog: rietman.wordpress.com.

NemaTalker Version 1.9.14

Concerns: error correction release, NemaTalker Version 1.9.14.
Heading instrument: Inappropriate magnetic corrections (variation and deviation) removed from the HDM sentence.
A customer pointed me to this issue. I could not find any prove in the NMEA documentation whether the HDM sentence should allow for correction of variation and deviation or not, but he stated that the HDM sentence is output by a magnetic sensor and that this is always pointing towards the magnetic north. This statement makes a lot of sense of course, but if you do not agree with this and can prove otherwise, I would appreciate feedback on tis matter very much.
You may want to download and install this version from the Sailsoft website any time.
Your license codes will of course remain valid as usual, no need to re-enter them again.

NemaTalker Version 1.9.13

This release of NemaTalker fixes a small issue in the Radar instrument.
NemaTalker now checks at the time you input the target name if it contains any NMEA reserved characters and gives an error message when it does.
Reserved characters are thus no longer accepted in the target name.
You may want to download and install this version from the Sailsoft website any time.
Your license codes will of course remain valid as usual, no need to re-enter them again.

NemaTalker Version 1.9.12

We just released Version 1.9.12 of NemaTalker. This concerns an error correction update.

"- When loading a very large text (>16K characters) in the Custom instrument window an overflow occurred. Corrected."

Note: The Custom instrument was originally designed with the expectation that it would be used to output only a few custom sentences. However, customers are starting to use it now for a.o. to output hundreds of pre-logged AIS sentences because the lack of better functionality in NemaTalker to do this kind of stuff.
We promise to introduce AIS functiononality in the next major version of NemaTalker, expected to release 3rd or 4th quarter 2008.
Until then the Custom instrument window is limited to contain max 32K characters.
If you absolutely need more space we could double this, but not without suffering a considerable performance degradation when reloading the Custom window.

13:32 16-12-2007 - Custom instrument extended with the possibility to send the sentences in one burst (as it was until now) or one-by-one on each interval pass. This new functionality is handled by either checking or unchecking a checkbox called "Burst mode" on the Custom instrument user interface. Version history

NemaTalker version history before version 1.9.11

1:18 4-11-2007 Version 1.9.10 - Corrected: date roll over bug - Corrected: $HEHDM deviation calculation

12:15 1-6-2007 Version 1.9.9 - If the UTC time runs though 00:00:00 the date did not increment to the next day. Corrected - Running as NMEA version 2.20 there was no apparent way to toggle GPRMC field 2 (A/V). This is solved now by adding a status combo when running NMEA version < 3.0 to make it possible to select the status "A" or "V". This affects the RMC, RMB, XTE and GLL sentences.

16:25 25-5-2006 Version 1.9.8 - The ZDA contained one field too much after the change in the previous version. Corrected. - The recently added HDM sentence did not show the magnetic heading correctly. Corrected.

13:24 20-5-2006 Version 1.9.7 - Magnetic variation was not updated in GPS device after 'in-between' changing this value in the generic parameters. Corrected. - $GPZDA sentence changed: when UTC offset = 0 then offset hours in output sentence becomes a null field now. Offset minutes is always a null field. - New sentence $HEHDM (Magnetic heading) added to heading instrument

11:48 9-5-2006 Version 1.9.6 - Custom instrument caused an error when exited before transmitbuffer empty. Occurred in rare situations where a very large number of custom data sentences had to be transmitted. Corrected.

13:54 16-10-2005 Version 1.9.5 - GPS instrument: incidental overflow error on day change. Corrected.

16:57 11-4-2005 Version 1.9.4 - Sounder instrument: water depth and transducer offset also accept negative values now.

12:11 22-3-2005 Version 1.9.3 - Weather instrument, wind direction. When windshift angle forced the wind direction to vary between angles < 360 degrees and angles > 0 degrees, the wind direction was not calculated correctly. Corrected.

15:22 14-2-2005 Version 1.9.2 - Slightly improved handling of Lat/Lon input errors - Contents of custom.txt file were duplicated each time the custom form was activated within a session. Corrected.

18:29 31-1-2005 Version 1.9.1 - Communications, UDP settings: now Local Port number user setting possible (Port# was fixed to 7 before)

16:57 14-12-2004 Version 1.9.0 - GPS instrument UTC time is now taken from the system clock at start and can be changed at will later - GPS instrument UTC offset is now taken from the generic settings at start and can be changed at will later - GPS instrument UTC date is now taken from the system clock at start and can be set at will later - $GPDTM sentence added in the GPS instrument, including a new form to set up this sentence - When split tracewindow was used, the receive window was not cleared. Corrected.

13:20 7-10-2004 Version 1.8.6 - Dateline crossing gave erroneous results. Corrected.

Version 1.8.5 (not released)

16:37 23-9-2004 Version 1.8.4 - Certain values were not saved on exit. Implemented. - Minus sign as only character in random offset depth gave error. Corrected.

14:21 3-8-2004 Version 1.8.3 - The comm port number in use is now also shown in the statusbar, together with the other comm settings - $GPRMC sentence now compensates the velocity in knots for KMH when unit of measure setting is KMH, so that applications using RMC to show speed, agree with the NemaTalker cockpit velocity setting in such cases

13:13 7-6-2004 Version 1.8.2 - $GPGSA sentence modified to accept a maximum of 12 satellites

12:19 13-5-2004 Version 1.8.1 - Default initialization in Sounder and Velocity sometimes errors in rare situations caused by National Settings in Windows. Initialisation of parameters changed into values without decimals.

9:53 21-4-2004 Version 1.8.0 - Possibility for UTC insertion in Custom sentence formatter added

10:38 20-4-2004 Version 1.7.3 - Until the communication setup parameters were saved for the first time, running the program after a maiden installation the program tried to open a UDP port, causing an error in some configurations

17:09 24-11-2003 Version 1.7.2 - 2nd Mode parameter in GSA sentence was missing. Set to 3 (=3D)

13:46 3-11-2003 Version 1.7.1 - Windowstate is now also saved so that it is restored at new startup - Size of multiline text box in "Custom" tool limited to 32767 avoiding runtime error - When decimal seconds of time was equal to 00, the time field in the GGA, ZDA, RMC and GLL sentences were wrongly formatted. Corrected.

Version 1.7.0 1:10 19-8-2003 - Port number (1-16) now selectable from a drop down combo box - Baud rate (300-256000) now selectable from a drop down combo box

Version 1.6.1 9:44 10-6-2003 - Error corrected in license check
