The Menu

The TraceWindow Menu

Show

Clicking the "Show" menu item will bring up a trace window as shown below. In the example the "Split I/O" option was selected, so transmit and received sentences will show in different windows. If the "Split I/O" option is switched off, both sent and received sentences will be shown in one window.

All NMEA sentences that are sent and received will be visible here. You can select and copy all or just a few lines for pasting into other programs. To do this you click with the right mouse button in the text area and a menu will pop up.

The sentences will scroll over the window. Clicking the "Freeze" button will pause the scrolling. Note that the program does not stop the transmitting and receiving of data. If you want to stop transmission, you have to halt the instrument with the "Hold" button on he instrument. Receiving of data however will not stop. You have to stop or disconnect the external transmitting device to cease receiving of data.

The trace window can be moved to any convenient location on the screen, and can be resized as pleased, even to full screen.

Note that the text "Show" in the menu will change to "Hide" when the trace window is on.

Split I/O

This will split the trace window in two parts. The upper part is for the sentences transmitted, the lower part for the sentences received.

Clear

This will clear the trace window.

Always on top

This will keep the trace window always on top of any other window, so it will stay visible.
